The field of Computer Applications and Statistics plays a crucial role in the modernization and scientific advancement of agriculture. With the increasing use of technology in farming and research, this subject equips students with the skills to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret agricultural data using modern computational tools and statistical techniques. The department is supported by a well-equipped computer lab featuring a sufficient number of computers with internet access, Wi-Fi, printers, scanners, and 24-hour power backup, enabling students and researchers to access digital resources, perform data analysis, and generate reports effectively.
Statistical Methods in Agriculture: Understanding and applying basic statistical concepts such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and correlation. Designing and conducting agricultural experiments using tools like randomized block design (RBD), completely randomized design (CRD), and split-plot design. Application of statistical tools for analyzing experimental data, drawing conclusions, and making informed decisions.
Agricultural Marketing: Understanding the marketing channels, supply chains, and price determination mechanisms for agricultural produce. Analysis of market structures (regulated markets, APMCs, private markets, online platforms) and price trends. Importance of grading, standardization, storage, and transportation in reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring fair prices.
